The MSRP of this mid-size truck is $35,440, but with options, it can climb above that. The 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road even comes with off-road tech that can help you handle the road less traveled. And that makes this pickup ideal for camping and adventuring. 

Is the 2023 Tacoma good for camping?

There are multiple factors that go into making the Toyota Tacoma good for camping. First, it’s got a thriving aftermarket community. If you want a camper for your truck, you can likely find one that is capable with this mid-size truck. You can also buy various accessories which will improve your truck’s ability to handle adventuring situations.

According to Car and Driver, the Tacoma TRD Off-Road also comes standard with a V6 engine that makes 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the optional four-wheel drive, this should be enough to get you to where you need to go. Plus, the Tacoma looks aggressive. And that is something that mid-size truck owners seem to appreciate. 

Probably the Tacoma’s closest rival is the Nissan Frontier. But, the Tacoma does have a more refined feel to it. Even if it is slightly more expensive than the competition. Other trucks to consider include the Chevy Colorado and Jeep Gladiator.

Should you buy a Toyota truck?

If you are shopping for a new truck, generally, Toyota vehicles are seen as reliable and worthy of consideration. Although sales of the Tacoma have been down recently, it is still one of the best-selling mid-size pickups on the market.

Not everybody needs a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, and the TRD Off-Road is a fairly good compromise. You still get the locking rear differential, off-road cruise control, and improved shocks. Once you add different customizations, you should have a pickup that is ready for your next camping trip. But, even in stock form, the 2023 Tacoma should be able to handle most situations.
