Van Life Is Dead and Something Called ‘Camping’ Is Now Hot

The hot new trend of sleeping outside on the ground shows promise and might be the answer to van life we’ve all been waiting for.

Van life. What started as a minimalist movement has now become a maximalist exercise in excess. The dirtbags bunking in filthy sleeping bags on top of plywood in the back of Westfalias have given way to trust fund babies arguing over which sink fixture is more Instagram-friendly.

But, as this video from Shaffer Nickel illustrates, there’s a new trend making waves with outdoorsy folks. Apparently, it involves sleeping outdoors (on the ground!) and is commonly referred to as “camping.”

Sounds interesting. Might show promise.
