Target 7 Investigation gets results for Albuquerque property owners dealing with homeless camping

Target 7 told you about a piece of property across the street from Coronado Park in an investigation that aired in late July. Despite ‘No Trespassing’ signs, the homeless would camp there while the park was being cleaned. But, on Aug. 10 while the park was being cleaned, for the first time, no one was camping on the property. That’s because the city of Albuquerque put a fence up around the land. David Grady, the attorney who represents the property owners, said the fence was put up shortly after the investigation aired. “I suspect that it was because of your reporting. We had done an awful lot and had gotten no results. But once the story came out shortly after that, the fence went up and they cleaned it out. So, kudos to you,” Grady said. Grady went on to say the city is not charging them for the fence His clients hope the property could still be leased by the city so they can put tiny homes there to help the homeless.
