Within the scope of Operation “Verão Seguro 2022”, the GNR
detected 46 infractions for the practice of illegal or irregular camping and caravanning
in a protected area and the respective owners have been identified.
“Illegal or irregular camping and caravanning in a protected
area can lead to excessive and disorderly occupation of public spaces and
coastal areas by motorhomes and the like, with negative consequences for the
landscape, the environment, land use planning and public health.
“The GNR will continue to raise awareness among campers to
adopt more responsible and environmentally friendly behaviour, especially in
these protected areas,” said a statement by the GNR.
