One person is dead after a fire ripped through a camping trailer at a North York grocery store parking lot Sunday evening.
Fire crews were called to reports of a vehicle fire at 1400 Victoria Park Ave., south of Eglinton Avenue, at 6:09 p.m.
“When crews arrived, they encountered a fully involved small camping trailer,” Toronto Fire Services Capt. Dan Vieira said. “The reports that we got before we got there was that someone may have been living in it or sleeping in it.”
Vieira said that the fire was “quickly put out” and that a person was found dead inside the camping trailer, which was not attached to a vehicle. No one else was hurt.
Vieira said the cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined.
Police, the fire marshal’s office and Toronto Fire Services are investigating.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 416-808-2222.
