CALEDONIA, Wis. — With a mainly favorable forecast for Labor Day weekend, some Wisconsinites said they are taking the opportunity to explore the great outdoors.

“You get to enjoy yourself. You don’t have to cut grass. You don’t have to do any of the home stuff. Just sit and relax with a campfire and maybe have a couple beverages of your choice,” said Thomas.
He said he usually takes his RV out to go camping three times a year.
However, Thomas admitted that for the past two years, he’d been less willing to go out.
Thomas explained he is excited to get back to his normal camping schedule as COVID-19 concerns fade.
“It’s definitely uplifting. You know it gets your spirits high and everything being able to be outside again and talk with different people,” said Thomas.
Mike Prosser is the owner of Prosser RV Rentals in Milwaukee. He said Labor Day weekend is always a busy time for his business and he expects his lot to be nearly empty by Saturday.

“What we are seeing is a lot of activity, a lot of interest in camping. People are tired of sitting around in their couches. They want to get out, get a little exercise, see some nature hang out with friends. Pretty much saying, ‘We are not going to let this COVID stuff run our lives anymore,”’ said Prosser.
Family is big for Thomas too, he said. He also plans to make a two hour drive to Coloma to spend time camping with his family.
“It’s really important to see my uncle once in a while. My aunt just ended up passing away not too long ago, so he’s up there by himself. We like to visit him and spend some time with him and hopefully keep him busy,” said Thomas.
